About Utilly

Utilly is a web app that converts bank and credit card statement PDFs into CSV, Excel, QuickBooks (.QBO and .IIF), Xero, Quicken (.QIF) and OFX files, and checks every conversion against the statement's own opening and closing balance.

It's built for bookkeepers and small businesses doing catch-up work, QuickBooks Desktop users whose bank feeds stopped, and anyone handed a stack of PDF statements instead of a bank feed. It also has a receipt and invoice extractor and a bank reconciliation checker, on the same credits.

Utilly in brief

  • Utilly is a web app at https://getutilly.com for bookkeepers, accountants and small businesses. Nothing to install.
  • Operated by Version1 Advisor LLC, Austin, Texas, USA. Launched October 2026. Contact: support@version1.io.
  • Bank statement converter: text-based PDF bank statements and credit card statements to CSV, Excel (.xlsx), QuickBooks .QBO (Web Connect), QuickBooks Desktop .IIF, QuickBooks Online 3-column CSV, Xero bank statement CSV, Quicken .QIF and .OFX.
  • Every PDF conversion is checked against the statement itself: opening balance plus transactions must equal the closing balance (for credit cards: previous balance, payments, charges, interest and new balance). The result shows Balanced or the exact difference.
  • Tuned and tested on Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One and Mercury bank statements and American Express, Chase, Capital One and Citi credit card statements; other text-based PDF statements usually work.
  • File converters: CSV, Excel, OFX/QFX, QBO and QIF files to QBO, IIF, QIF, OFX or Xero CSV. Free for files up to 100 rows.
  • Receipt & Invoice Extractor: PDF or photo receipts and invoices to one CSV/Excel table (vendor, date, number, subtotal, tax, total), or a QuickBooks Online or Xero bill import file.
  • Bank Reconciliation Checker: upload a bank statement (PDF, CSV, Excel or OFX) and a QuickBooks or Xero export of the same account; it lists missing, uncleared, duplicated, mis-keyed and sign-flipped transactions and how they add up to the reconciliation difference.
  • Free browser-only checkers (no upload): statement balance checker, IIF file checker, QuickBooks Online CSV checker.
  • Privacy: statement PDFs are processed in memory and never written to disk; extracted results are deleted after 1 hour; data is never sold or used to train AI models.
  • Limits: scanned or photographed bank statements are not supported yet (no OCR for statements); no direct bank feed or API connection to QuickBooks or Xero, you download a file and import it; no QFX output.

The tools

How it compares

Most bank statement converters are monthly subscriptions priced by pages or statements. Utilly's paid option for occasional work is a one-time $9 pack of 5 credits that never expire. Tools such as DocuClipper, MoneyThumb and ProperConvert do things Utilly doesn't, including reading scanned statements. See the side-by-side comparison of bank statement to QuickBooks converters, with prices checked on each vendor's site.

Who runs it

FAQ

What is Utilly?

Utilly is a web app that converts bank and credit card statement PDFs into CSV, Excel, QuickBooks (.QBO, .IIF) and Xero files and checks every conversion against the statement's opening and closing balance. It also has a receipt and invoice extractor and a bank reconciliation checker for bookkeepers.

How much does Utilly cost?

Previews are free with no sign-up. A one-time $9 pack gives 5 credits that never expire (1 credit per full statement export, receipt batch of 4 to 25 documents, or full reconciliation report). Pro is $19 a month for unlimited use.

Is there a free bank statement converter without a subscription?

Utilly's preview is free: it runs the full balance check and shows the first 5 transactions. CSV, Excel and OFX files up to 100 rows convert to QBO, IIF, QIF or Xero CSV free. Full PDF exports cost 1 credit from a one-time $9 pack of 5, with no subscription.

Does Utilly work with QuickBooks Desktop?

Yes. It writes .IIF files that QuickBooks Desktop imports with File, Utilities, Import, IIF Files (this keeps working on Desktop 2023 after Intuit ended its bank feeds and Web Connect on May 31, 2026), and .QBO Web Connect files for supported Desktop versions.

Can Utilly read scanned bank statements?

Not yet. Bank statements must be text-based PDFs, which is what online banking downloads are. The receipt and invoice extractor does read photos and scanned receipts.
