Turn any bank or credit card CSV (or Excel file) into a Xero bank statement CSV: one signed Amount column, Xero's template headings, year-first dates. Free for files up to 100 rows.
Only have a PDF statement? Use the PDF statement converter.
Any bank, card or app export: CSV (comma, semicolon or tab), Excel .xlsx, or OFX/QFX/QBO downloads.
We detect the date, description and amount (or debit/credit) columns and the date format. Change anything, flip signs, and preview the result.
Get .QBO for QuickBooks, .IIF for QuickBooks Desktop, .QIF for Quicken, a Xero CSV, or a clean CSV. Same file, any format.
Xero's CSV statement import wants income and expenses in one Amount column (income positive, expenses negative), no balance columns, account numbers or empty rows, a heading row in row 1, and one of the date formats it lists. Many bank exports have separate Debit and Credit columns, a running balance and summary lines instead. This converter combines Debit and Credit into one signed Amount, leaves out balance, total and blank rows, and writes Xero's template headings (*Date, *Amount, Payee, Description, Reference) with dates as YYYY/MM/DD, one of Xero's three main CSV date formats, so the day and month can't be swapped. If your bank offers OFX or QFX for the period, Xero recommends importing that directly.
Import failing with "does not contain valid statement data", dates in the wrong month or a statement balance that won't match? See Xero bank statement import errors and how to fix them. Only have PDF statements? The PDF to Xero converter checks each statement against its closing balance first.
Free for files up to 100 transactions, which covers a typical month of activity. Larger files (a year of catch-up, a client's full history) use 1 credit from the same $9 pack of 5 as our PDF statement converter, or unlimited on Pro at $19/month. The preview is always free.
Yes for files up to 100 transactions: no sign-up, no watermark. Bigger files (multi-month catch-up work) use 1 credit from the same $9 / 5-credit pack as our PDF converter, and the preview is always free.
Accounting menu → Bank accounts → the account's menu icon (⋮) → Import a Statement. Choose the file and click Next. If asked, match the columns (Transaction Date and Transaction Amount must be assigned) and pick the date format, then review the lines and click Complete import. Import one file per bank account.
YYYY/MM/DD, for example 2026/03/04 for 4 March 2026. It's one of the three main date formats Xero lists for CSV statements, and a four-digit year can't be read as a day or a month, so the day and month can't be swapped whatever format an earlier import used. If Xero asks for the date format, choose YYYY/MM/DD.
Yes. Xero wants income and expenses in one Amount column, so we combine them: money in stays positive, money out becomes negative. Check the preview, and tick Flip signs if they come out backwards.
Yes. Choose Credit card as the account type. Xero wants card payments positive and purchases negative in the Amount column, which is how the preview should look.
Xero organizations in the US and Canada can import some PDF statements directly through Import a Statement. Elsewhere, or for statements it can't read, convert the PDF with our PDF statement converter, which checks every statement against its closing balance before you download the Xero CSV.
A date, a description and either one signed Amount column or separate Debit and Credit columns. We detect them automatically and you can change the mapping before downloading.
No. Files are processed in memory and deleted after 1 hour. We never use your data for AI training.
Yes. Click a sample button under the upload box. It opens a made-up export from a fictional bank in the same preview your own file gets, and every format is free to download, so you can test an import in a test or backup company file first. Don't import a sample into your real books.
