No statement handy? See the result on a fictional one first:

1. Download the PDF from Truist

  1. Sign in to Truist Online Banking at truist.com (or the Truist mobile app).
  2. Open Documents and pick the account.
  3. Open the statement you need and save the PDF.

2. Upload and verify

Utilly reads every transaction, then checks that opening balance + transactions = closing balance. You'll see Balanced ✓ or exactly how far off it is, before you pay anything.

3. Import into CSV

  1. Download the CSV from your results page.
  2. Open it in Google Sheets, Numbers or Excel, or import it into any accounting tool that takes CSV.
  3. Columns: Date, Description, Amount (negative for money out) and Balance where available. Uploading to QuickBooks Online? Download the QuickBooks Online CSV instead: Intuit asks for 3 columns, so it leaves Balance out.

About Truist statements

Truist statements list checks, other withdrawals, debits and service charges, and deposits, credits and interest in separate sections, every amount printed without a sign. Utilly signs each row by its section, turns checks into "Check 1187" rows, keeps the spaces in descriptions (the Truist PDFs we checked have no space characters, only gaps between words), and checks the result against the previous and new balance in the Account summary.

Works with Truist checking statements. Layout tested: Sections by type, unsigned amounts, PDFs without space characters.

Section by section: what we read on a Truist statement, and how far back Truist statements go →

Why CSV?

CSV is the universal format: every spreadsheet and almost every accounting tool can read it.

FAQ

Questions

Can I convert a Truist statement PDF to a CSV file for free?

You can preview every statement free: we show the balance check and the first 5 transactions with no sign-up. Unlocking the full file costs one credit ($9 for 5 statements).

Why not just copy and paste from the PDF?

Copying from a PDF usually scrambles columns, merges descriptions and drops minus signs. Utilly keeps each transaction on one row with a signed amount, and the balance check tells you nothing was missed.

Is my statement stored?

No. The PDF is read in memory and never written to disk, and extracted results are deleted after 1 hour. We never use your data for AI training.

Do scanned statements work?

Not yet. PDFs downloaded from online banking are text-based and work well. Scans and phone photos need OCR, which is on the roadmap.

What if it doesn't balance?

You'll see exactly how far off it is before paying. If a paid conversion is wrong and we can't fix it, email support@version1.io for a refund.
