About Capital One credit card statements

Capital One card statements show a transaction date and a post date on every row, with payments as '- $' amounts. Utilly uses the transaction date, keeps the merchant description intact and checks the New Balance.

Works with Capital One credit card Venture, Quicksilver, Spark and other Capital One card statements. Layout tested: Trans date + post date columns; '- $' payments.

Why CSV?

A CSV with one signed Amount column (charges negative, payments positive) imports into almost anything: spreadsheets, Wave, Zoho Books, FreshBooks or a credit-card register.

FAQ

Questions

Can I convert a Capital One credit card statement PDF to a CSV file for free?

You can preview every statement free: we show the balance check and the first 5 transactions with no sign-up. Unlocking the full file costs one credit ($9 for 5 statements).

How do you handle payments and refunds on a card statement?

Charges, fees and interest come out as negative amounts (money out) and payments, refunds and statement credits as positive. We then check Previous Balance − payments/credits + charges = New Balance, so you know every row was captured.

Why not just copy and paste from the PDF?

Copying from a PDF usually scrambles columns, merges descriptions and drops minus signs. Utilly keeps each transaction on one row with a signed amount, and the balance check tells you nothing was missed.

Is my statement stored?

No. The PDF is read in memory and never written to disk, and extracted results are deleted after 1 hour. We never use your data for AI training.

Do scanned statements work?

Not yet. PDFs downloaded from online banking are text-based and work well. Scans and phone photos need OCR, which is on the roadmap.

What if it doesn't balance?

You'll see exactly how far off it is before paying. If a paid conversion is wrong and we can't fix it, email support@version1.io for a refund.
