DocuClipper alternatives (2026): an honest comparison for bank statements
The main DocuClipper alternatives for bank statements are MoneyThumb Online, ProperConvert, AutoEntry, QuickBooks Online's own PDF upload and Utilly. For a few statements now and then, Utilly's $9 one-time pack costs least; for scans and high volume, DocuClipper is hard to beat.
Who wrote this: Utilly, which is one of the alternatives below. We've tried to be fair: every DocuClipper and competitor price and feature was checked on that vendor's own website on October 23, 2026 and is linked at the source, and we say plainly where DocuClipper and the others do things ours doesn't (scanned statements, direct sync, invoices, high volume). Prices change, so confirm before you buy.
What DocuClipper costs and does
DocuClipper bills by pages processed, with unlimited users on every plan. From its pricing page on October 23, 2026 (monthly billing, US dollars):
| Plan | Pages per month | Price per month |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 60 / 120 / 300 | $29 / $39 / $79 |
| Business | 640 / 1,000 / 1,500 | $159 / $219 / $299 |
| Enterprise | 1,800 / 3,000 / 5,000 | $399 / $599 / $899 |
Annual billing saves 30% and gives you the year's pages up front. On monthly plans, unused pages don't carry over to the next month. The 14-day free trial needs no card and processes up to 120 pages; its pricing FAQ says you upgrade when you're ready to export or sync. Only successfully extracted pages count.
What you get is broad: bank, card and brokerage statements, scanned or digital, checked against the statement's printed opening and closing balances; Excel, CSV, QBO, IIF, OFX, QFX and QIF files; direct QuickBooks Online and Xero integrations; Sage and NetSuite connections; invoice, receipt and check extraction; and API access on paid plans (sources: homepage, pricing FAQ). It's SOC 2 Type II audited.
Why people look for an alternative
- Low or uneven volume. The smallest plan is $29 a month for 60 pages, and monthly pages expire. If you convert a dozen statements a quarter, you pay for months you don't use, or remember to cancel and re-subscribe.
- Billing by page. A long statement uses many pages. Some tools charge per statement or per user instead, which suits long statements.
- Files must stay on your computer. DocuClipper is a cloud service; some firms want desktop software that never uploads client statements.
- You only need bank statements. Invoice, receipt, check and tax-form extraction is useful, but not if all you do is get statements into QuickBooks or Xero.
If none of these apply, and especially if you get scanned statements or want direct sync, DocuClipper is probably still the right tool.

Auto-balance, reconciliation and payee cleanup. | Long statements (priced per statement, not per page) and scans, mainly into QuickBooks. |
| ProperConvert by ProperSoft (desktop, Windows and Mac) | $19.99/month or $179.99/year per user or device, unlimited pages. The free trial never expires, but saved files are limited to 10 transactions. Source | Text-based or scanned PDF statements to QBO, IIF and QBJ for QuickBooks, QFX/QIF for Quicken, OFX and CSV for Xero and Sage, and Excel, all on your own computer with no cloud upload (source). | High volume on one machine, offline privacy, Quicken users who need QFX. |
| AutoEntry by Sage (web) | From $13/month for 50 credits (Bronze) or $46/month for 200 (Gold); bank and card statements use 3 credits per page. Unused credits keep for 90 days; the trial includes 25 free credits. Source | Extracts statements with OCR and AI and exports Excel or CSV (source). Its main job is invoices, bills, receipts and expenses, published to QuickBooks, Xero, Sage and others. Unlimited users and clients. | Firms already using AutoEntry for bills and receipts who want statements in the same place. |
| QuickBooks Online's own PDF upload | Included in QuickBooks Online. Source | Upload a PDF or image statement (JPG, PNG, HEIC) under Bank transactions → Link account → Upload from file. Intuit's AI extracts the transactions and shows a side-by-side review before you save. English statements only. Nothing for QuickBooks Desktop or Xero. | QuickBooks Online users with a handful of statements who are happy to review each one on screen. |

A 12-month catch-up on each
A common one-off job: a new client hands you 12 monthly PDF statements for one checking account, about 4 pages each (48 pages).
- DocuClipper: 48 pages fits Starter 60, so one month at $29, then cancel. At 6 pages per statement (72 pages) you'd need Starter 120 at $39.
- Utilly: 12 credits. Three $9 packs ($27, with 3 credits left that never expire), or one month of Pro at $19 and cancel.
- MoneyThumb Online: 12 conversions, however many pages each statement has. The $49.95 plan (20 a month) covers it in one month.
- ProperConvert: one month at $19.99, unlimited pages, on one computer.
- AutoEntry: 48 pages × 3 credits = 144 credits, so the $46 Gold plan (200 credits) for a month, or the 50-credit plan with overage.
- QuickBooks Online upload: no extra cost if you're on QuickBooks Online, but you review and save 12 statements one by one.
For steady volume the math changes: at hundreds of pages a month, DocuClipper's larger plans, annual billing or ProperConvert's unlimited licence usually beat paying per statement.
Who should pick what
- Stay with DocuClipper if you convert hundreds of pages a month, get scanned statements, want transactions pushed straight into QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage or NetSuite, extract invoices and receipts too, or need an API.
- Pick Utilly if you convert a few text-based PDF statements now and then, want each one checked against the statement balance, need an .IIF for QuickBooks Desktop 2023, and don't want a subscription. Try the free preview first.
- Pick ProperConvert if client statements must never leave your computer, or you convert a lot on one machine and want unlimited pages for a flat fee.
- Pick MoneyThumb Online if your statements are long and per-page pricing hurts, or you want scans converted straight into QuickBooks Online.
- Pick AutoEntry if you already run bills and receipts through it and a CSV or Excel export of statements is enough.
- Try QuickBooks Online's upload first if you're on QuickBooks Online and only have a few statements.
Whatever you choose, check one equation before importing: opening balance + deposits − withdrawals = closing balance, to the cent. Our free statement balance checker does this in your browser for a CSV from any converter, and the IIF file checker catches problems before QuickBooks Desktop does. Going to Desktop 2023? What Utilly does and doesn't do
Does: reads text-based PDF bank and credit card statements (tested on Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One and Mercury bank statements and Amex, Chase, Capital One and Citi cards), checks the result against the statement's balances, and writes QBO, IIF, QuickBooks Online CSV, Xero CSV, QIF, OFX, CSV and Excel. Statement PDFs are processed in memory and results are deleted after an hour. Try a sample statement or upload your own for a free preview.
Doesn't: read scanned or photographed statements, read statements in languages other than English, connect to your bank or push into QuickBooks or Xero (you download a file and import it), write QFX, offer an API, or extract brokerage statements, checks or tax forms. If you need those, DocuClipper or one of the other tools above is the better fit.
FAQ
What is the best DocuClipper alternative?
It depends on why you're leaving. For a few statements now and then, a pay-per-use tool such as Utilly ($9 one-time for 5 statements, no subscription) costs less than a monthly plan. For files that must stay on your own computer, ProperConvert ($19.99/month, unlimited pages). For billing per statement instead of per page, MoneyThumb Online (from $24.95/month for 5 conversions). If you already use AutoEntry for bills and receipts, it reads bank statements too. QuickBooks Online users can try its built-in PDF upload first.
How much does DocuClipper cost in 2026?
DocuClipper's pricing page lists Starter plans at $29/month for 60 pages, $39 for 120 pages and $79 for 300 pages, Business plans from $159/month for 640 pages and Enterprise up to $899/month for 5,000 pages, with 30% off billed annually. Unused monthly pages don't carry over. The 14-day free trial processes up to 120 pages with no card. Checked October 23, 2026.
Is there a free DocuClipper alternative?
QuickBooks Online's own Upload from file reads PDF and image statements at no extra cost if you're on QuickBooks Online. Utilly's free preview runs the full balance check and shows the first 5 transactions, and it converts CSV, Excel and OFX files up to 100 rows free. ProperConvert's trial never expires but saved files are limited to 10 transactions, and AutoEntry's trial includes 25 credits (about 8 statement pages).
Which DocuClipper alternatives read scanned bank statements?
MoneyThumb Online and ProperConvert say they convert scanned statements, AutoEntry says it extracts statements with optical character recognition, and QuickBooks Online's upload accepts images (JPG, PNG, HEIC). DocuClipper reads scans too. Utilly reads text-based PDFs only, the kind you download from online banking.
Which alternatives make IIF files for QuickBooks Desktop?
Utilly and ProperConvert write IIF, as does DocuClipper. MoneyThumb Online lists .qbo (Web Connect) output. IIF matters for QuickBooks Desktop 2023, which lost bank feeds and Web Connect uploads after May 31, 2026; IIF is a local import that keeps working.
Is there a DocuClipper alternative without a subscription?
Yes. Utilly sells a one-time $9 pack of 5 credits that never expire, one credit per statement. ProperConvert and MoneyThumb Online are monthly or yearly subscriptions you can cancel, and DocuClipper says you can take one month for a one-off project and cancel.
Should I stay with DocuClipper?
Often, yes. If you convert hundreds of pages a month, get scanned statements, want transactions pushed straight into QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage or NetSuite, or also extract invoices and receipts, DocuClipper covers more than most alternatives here, with unlimited users on every plan.
